Milestones in the Deaf History
1935 – Danish Deaf Association is established
1950 – A new social law changes the word “deaf mute” to “deaf”
1957 – The Deaf Foundation is established
1963 – Deaf TV Video is established
1973 – KC is established
1973 – Castberggård – The Deaf Folk High School – is established
1979 – The popular red sign language dictionary is published
1985 – The first interpretation training programme is established
1986 – The technical aid called the textphone is introduced
1989 - DDA introduces a 3 year experimental project where the deaf are granted interpreters in the labour market. The project is succeeded by a law in 1992.
1993 – News in Sign Language sets off
1998 – Danish Deaf Youth Association is established
1999 – The Deaf Parental Guidance Project is established
2000 – The Social Interpretation Project is established
2001 – Guidance for Elderly Deaf People is established
2003 – The Digital Sign Language Dictionary takes off
2009 – DDA is behind the first report on the interpreting service for deaf, hard of hearing, deafened, and deafblind people in Denmark ever
